The Sacramento Running Association (SRA) is best known for founding and organizing its premier event, the California International Marathon (CIM, established in 1983). This successful, internationally acclaimed marathon has filled the SRA's original mission: to bring a world class running event to the Sacramento area.
Once the California International Marathon's status as a world class running event was achieved, the Sacramento Running Association decided to expand its mission.
Since the SRA Board believes strongly in the myriad of health benefits gained from running, the SRA's expanded mission is to find ways to encourage people of all ages and abilities to run.
To this end, the SRA is constantly developing new, quality running events that will appeal to a broad variety of runners. The current events organized by the SRA are listed on the front page of the SRA site noted below and more are on the drawing board!
As the SRA's new events become more successful, they will help to fund the SRA's beneficiaries and projects, which are currently recipients of proceeds from the California International Marathon:
